SYNDICATE CITY:  An unexplained epidemic swept through Fujimoto Towers yesterday, sending hundreds of employees either home or, in the worst cases, to nearby hospitals.  The systematic infection of the tower employees was put to an end by local superstar-superhero Johnny Radd and his companions.

Accompanying Johnny on his latest exploit into superheroism were his apparently regular companion Shockwave, a man she identified as Checkmate, and a steel-armored individual.  After a battle that left the combatants and several floors of the western tower in need of repair, a yellow-skinned man fled the scene.

Andrea Meadows of WVNC Nightwatch News accompanied the heroes into the tower, just as she did when Johnny and Shockwave freed the hostages in the New Millennium Mall this summer.  A transcript of her broadcast is available at the WVNC website.

Lieutenant Calabresi, commander of the newly formed Special Services Division of the SCPD, arrived on the scene moments after the heroes entered the building but was unavailable for comment.

A team from the Center for Disease Control is expected to arrive at Syndicate City General Hospital late this morning to interview victims and formulate the official theory on the disease.
