Shortly after returning home from her annual summer visit with her father's brother and his family in the sleepy little town of Rio Hevrir, Staci got mixed up in one of the worst nightmares to ever attack the glitzy social culture into which she'd been born.

It was Halloween, 2001, and the party at Dreamweaver's was less than impressive. Staci left the club with a couple of other girls, piling into one girl's convertible and cruising around the town. After stopping at several other parties, they returned to the club.

When they went through the doors, the scene that met them was pure carnage. Blood dripped off the walls and the bodies of their friends lay around in in darkening pools. When the girls regained what little composure they could, Staci pulled the phone out of her purse and dialed the police.

Staci spent most of the time until New Year's Eve in a drug induced haze. The news stories of a similar incident up in Washington state snapped her out of it... at least for the time it took for her to find everything she could about the things that she suspected were guilty of the massacres.

She became an expert on the vampire.

Still spoiled and still a party girl, Staci has carefully hidden her interest in the supernatural from her mother, who has little use for such foolishness when there is social climbing to be done. Her doting father however, who caters to Staci's every whim, has indulged her requests for rare, antique volumes and obscure art pieces.

Now the summer has come around again and Staci's mother is off again, traveling the world with whatever toy she has recently acquired. Staci's father has a heavy workload and talked her into going, once again, to stay with her aunt and uncle in Rio Hevrir.
