According to her landlord, Heather Cross is a quiet tenant; always pays her rent on time, performs her own maintenance, and doesn’t cause any problems. But when asked about Ms. Cross’ history, her landlord is clueless. So is her boss. So are her neighbors.

As far as any of them know, she has no real past beyond the end of last September. Until then, she simply did not exist.

Of course, she did exist. She was even named Heather. Well... she was called Heather. It was far more pleasant and personal than the identity she had actually been assigned: Human Experiment - Alternatively Trained Human Emergency Response. It was also more normal and acceptable than the codename she had acquired within the program: Shockwave.

When a small group of biotechnicians left U.S.H.E.R. for what they cited as "creative differences," their bioengineered hero program was already in its infancy. Once The Program was safely hidden from U.S.H.E.R.’s prying eyes, their work began in earnest, and H.E.A.T.H.E.R. along with several other projects, moved from the drawing board into reality.

Eighteen years later, armed with a shining record that showed no criminal activity whatsoever and glowing educational accomplishments, all of which lead back to doctors associated with the program, she leased an apartment, found a job, and began her life.

Of course, her loyalty still belonged to Dr. Cross and The Program, but her orders were simple.

Protect the innocent. Bring the guilty to justice.

Be a hero.
