Born in a small seaside village on the Minotaur Isles on the planet of Krynn, Golanth was deserted by his parents to fend for himself. His father Helmdar of Korthos a well known, respected, and feared Minotaur sailor and pirate was ashamed of his son who seemed to be a runt in his eyes. Small for a Minotaur and larger than almost any other race a Half/Elf Mage took pity on him and took him in and taught him to school in the ways of magic. It would appear to most that this was done out of the goodness of her heart, but the Mage had a hidden agenda known to only her and her evil god. What they didn't count on was that Golanth's ambition would drive his soul to serve a darker power than even they could have imagined.
As time went by Golanth became quite the pupil in the arts of magic but his strength began to grow he yearned for power and to learn the ways of the sword as well as the arts of magic. Soon he had become as agile with steel as he has with magic making him a worthy addition to any party. Then the hammer fell. Time had come for Golanth to take his test in the Tower of High Sorcery.
The travels were hard and long but Golanth and a small group of friends traveled to the tower. Upon entering the tower Golanth was striped of all but his cloths and told to proceed through a door and his test began. The test was soon over and Golanth emerged even tough racked with pain he held a strange arrogance about him. He was taken to the heads of the conclave of wizards for the final results. As Golanth stood in the circle of Mages his robes began to shimmer and change. Now stood in the center of the circle a Minotaur warring robes of the darkest black velvet, marked with runes that only those of his order could see. This drew gasps from the conclave since no one had been dubbed that evil since the days before the cataclysm. What caused this no one knows for sure other than Golanth himself and the three heads of the conclave, and the Dark Queen herself.
Golanth from that day forward was never the same, brooding and secretive he withdrew into his studies. He was preparing for a task that would leave his mark in the pages of history. Day by day he became more intense in his training of steel and magic until the night of the eye arrived. His Teacher and Mother figure had been challenged to a duel by none other than Lord Dalamar the head of the order of black robes and believed to be the most powerful dark Mages on the face of Krynn. Just the battle was to begin Golanth was struck by a fireball in the back which brought him to his knees and slowly snuffed out his life, but as he lie there in the mud he heard a voice in his head a seductive voice of the one woman who knew his hearts true desirers, the dark queen.
"You made deal, now I call on my favor" whispered the voice in his head.
Golanth soon awoke to find that his so-called friends had done the one thing to him that he would never forgive them for. They had used the body of a human knight to reincarnate him. Now not only was he weak my Minotaur standards he would be a freak in the eyes of the humans as well.
Once again the voice came to him. "Now you will gain all that I promised as long as you hold up to your end of the bargain."
As the wizards battle raged on above him Golanth slowly rose to his feel and with a twinkle in his eye drew his dagger from its place on his side. He then crept up behind his teacher, his mother..the one who used him, the one who plotted against him and drew the razor sharp edge across her neck, and as she sank to her knees he whispered in her ear "Her Dark Majesty will give what you could not, unlimited power"
Golanth rose to his feet and gave a sly smile just a large blue claw seemed to reach out of the sky, much to the surprise of the others who were there and carried him away to begin his new life as a Knight in the service of the Dark Queen.
