Mutant son of
Wall Street broker Thomas Helstrom, and his wife Virginia, Jacob was
raised on the better side of town. He attended the finest schools and knew
all the right people.
While in school at the esteemed Hawthorn Academy Jacob joined the
gymnastics, rugby, and hockey teams hoping to find a way to fit in with
this new crowd of people he was forced to interact with. Though involved
in a lot Jacob seemed to be a solitary soul who only seemed to take joy in
quiet nights just sitting with his only true friend Eric around an antique
chess board.
Eric was slight of build but quite sharp when it came to the study of
physics as well as a tough opponent in “The Art of War ”as they called
there games that sometimes would last days. The two became close friends,
Jacob being the savior of Eric from the school bullies, and Erik in turn
aiding Jacob in his studies.
As the years went buy the two boys grew closer and would seem
inseparable even trough their collage years until the tragic day that will
never be forgotten. While walking to class across the school campus Erik
was confronted by a local thug and drug dealer by the name of Darrell.
Darrell was the type to start a fight just for the sake of boredom and he
thought to himself “This time that goodie goodie Helstrom aint here to
save this little weekling. The two were last seen involved in what seemed
like a heated argument that soon came to blows. Erik was found hours later
barely clinging to life, and shards of bone protruding from his side.
Erik died on the way to the hospital, and Jacob swore vengeance on
this beast, that he would never be able to do this to another person as
long as he was around. And not only would he pay but so would anyone else
who prayed on the weak.
Darrell seemed to drop off the face of the planet, not seen nor heard
from since the killing. Even the police could not track him down, but his
time would come.
Jacob sank into his physical activities to help mask the pain using
them as outlets for his egression. Growing stronger, Faster, and Angrier
by the day Jacob would soon tale his revenge. School would soon be out and
he would take his place in the family firm, traveling the world in the
search of clients….and training. His new life would begin…..the search for
a killer……. the search that would lead him into the dark world of the
street, and the unknown dangers of the urban jungle.
By day Powerful and charismatic Jacob Helstrom Wall Street broker and
social magnet, by night the one only know as “Checkmate”
